A 40-year-old Texas woman by the name of Jessica Burden finds herself behind bars after committing a brutally violent crime on her six-year-old stepdaughter for one of the dumbest reasons. According to Irish Star, in October  2020, six-year-old Ariana Rose Batelle was found dead on the ground and concealed under blankets, and the small child was declared dead at the scene of the crime. Jessica Burden claimed that Ariana Rose Batelle had had an accidental fall down a flight of stairs at her home before she passed away.

Burden explained after the tumble she decided to put her child in bed and that’s when Ariana stopped breathing and Jessica immediately called emergency assistance. Officers noticed once coming to the scene that there were multiple conspicuous wounds made to the child that included bruises and marks by using a belt. Later  Jessica confessed to hitting the preschooler at least six times as a punishment for wetting the bed. Belt prints were covering the small child all over her body which also showed that Burden did not act alone.

Adriana‘s father Justin Hopper also confessed to beating the small child with the belt and her twin as a form of discipline. Small children wet their selves all the time, sometimes it could be a real medical reason, nervousness, or even anxiety it doesn’t mean you should beat a small child to death. To beat a child to death isn’t an accident, it’s a slow painful torture. Brazo County Court found Hopper and Burden guilty of intent to inflict grievances harm on a child where he now has a punishment of life imprisonment with a possibility of parole. The family now says they are just trying to move on for the sake of Ariana’s twin sister, and hoping her life can find some  normalcy.
