Topo Chico Mineral Water Faces Recall In Texas

A popular mineral water brand is facing a recall in 5 states, including Texas due to a possible contamination issue. Coca-Cola issued the voluntary recall this week of Topo Chico bottles sold in certain locations.

If you've purchased Topo Chico anytime recently, you might need to check to see if your bottles are being recalled.

Topo Chico Recall in Texas

According to a report on FoodandWine.com, Topo Chico, which is one of the most popular mineral water brands is facing a recall. On Wednesday, Coca-Cola issued a voluntary recall of its Topo Chico brand due to a possible bacterial contamination.

There is concern that a deadly bacteria for those with weakened immune systems could be at risk. The bacteria they are worried about is called Pseudomonas. According to FoodandWine.com, Pseudomonas is "commonly found in the environment, like in soil and water." However, if it flourishes, it can "cause infections in the blood, lungs (pneumonia), urinary tract, or other parts of the body after surgery."

The bacteria poses a "very low" health risk to the general public.

So far, no illnesses have been reported in connection to the recall.

Where Were These Bottles of Topo Chico Sold?

According to reports, 40 retail locations across 5 states, including Texas have been impacted. Most of the locations carrying these bottles seem to be Costco locations. These location have already pulled the recalled bottles off the shelves.

Here's what you need to look for if you purchased Topo Chico from Costco recently. The recalled bottles were sold in 18-packs with a lot code of #13A2541. You can find the lot code on the necks of the bottles and on both sides of each case.

According to Today.com, these bottles were sold between May 20 and May 29.
