Texas Man Caught Smuggling Drugs In Plush Toys From Buc-ee’s

Folks in Texas flock to Buc-ee's for many good reasons. But using their plush toys to hide your drugs is usually not one of them. Such was the case when a man was busted in the Lone Star State after the cops found a bunch of drugs in his toys.

What went down?

According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, in the early hours of July 31st, a routine traffic stop on Interstate 10 westbound near mile marker 664 took a surprising turn when law enforcement uncovered an unusual drug smuggling situation.

At approximately 1:10 a.m., Deputy Cody Williams stopped 47-year-old Lugene Davis Jr. from San Antonio. What began as a standard procedure quickly escalated after a consented vehicle search revealed an unexpected discovery.

Stuffed Beavers

During the search, Deputy Williams detected a strong odor of the "devil's lettuce" (marijuana) rolling out of the vehicle. As he looked in the back seat, the deputy saw some Buc-ee's beaver plushies in the back seat, which appeared to be recently re-stitched.

Upon further inspection, the deputy felt packages inside the stuffed animals, raising his suspicions. Carefully opening the plush toys, he found that they contained over two pounds of marijuana along with ecstasy pills.

Oops.

The driver then started complaining about chest pains and was taken to a hospital. Later he was arrested and faces charges.

From hiding narcotics in everyday items like stuffed animals to using sophisticated concealment techniques, it just goes to show you the tactics folks will come up with to hide drugs. Meanwhile, law enforcement remains vigilant, adapting their strategies to counter these evolving ways that drugs are being smuggled.
