Bravos de FC Juarez were able to obtain their first win of the 2016 Apertura Season in the Ascenso MX league by defeating Tampico FC by a score of 3-0.  The win gives Bravos 3 points for a total 6 points on the season -- good enough to move them up to 10th place in the general standings, just 2 points out of the playoff zone.

As was expected, FC Juarez dominated their rival for all 90 minutes of the match against a Tampico team that is struggling and was next to last place prior to Saturday's match.

The first goal was scored in the 13th minute of the game and came by way of an own goal.  The ball was deflected off of the head by a Tampico defender on a direct kick.  This goal came just as the Bravos were beginning to solidify ball possession for the match.

Both sides had to face adverse weather conditions for a majority of the first half as a rainstorm hit Benito Juarez Olympic Stadium and did not cease until halftime.

In the second half, the domination by FC Juarez would continue.

Felix Micolta would take advantage of a careless loss of possession by a Tampico defender in the 61st to break away for a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, not passing up on the golden opportunity and putting the ball in the back of the net.  The scoring summary with end with a goal by Leandro Carrijo getting a shot on goal past the Tampico goalkeeper from outside the goalbox.

After the game, Bravos head coach Sergio Orduna was happy with the way thing came to be on Saturday night.  Orduna commented, “Hopefully this match will serve as a fresh starting point to get on a positive streak and accumulate points 3 at a time.  Not to say that we have been doing things badly but this win allows us to feel better about our body of work thus far this season.”

Bravos will have a busy week ahead themselves.  They practiced on Sunday afternoon, at 7 am Monday morning and flew out to Veracruz on Monday afternoon.  They will playVeracruz on Tuesday night in Copa MX play and fly out to Puebla on Wednesday morning and prepare Wednesday-Friday in that city for their Saturday league match against Lobos BUAP in league play.
