In association with the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl, Kellogg's and The Dick's Sporting Goods Foundation, NFL Hall of Fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson and Tony the Tiger himself announced a total donation of $500,000 to help give more middle school kids access to sports.

Those incurable gossips on social media had already poured milk over the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl's big reveal well before FSU and ASU were announced.

The stage is set for the 86th annual Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl, as Pac-12 affiliate, Arizona State (7-5, 4-5 Pac-12) will square up against ACC foe Florida State (6-6, 4-4 ACC) on Tuesday, Dec. 31 at noon.

The Miners football squad (1-6, 0-4 C-USA) will hit the road this weekend to face a struggling North Texas team (3-5, 2-2 C-USA) at Apogee Stadium in Denton, TX.

Some will argue that UTEP narrowly defeated one of the worst teams in FCS by a score of 36-34 as a 17-point favorite, but when you haven't won a game at home in 3 years, then any win is a damn nice way to start the season.  With the victory also came a stunning performance by converted senior running back Treyvon Hughes, who torched HBU for 144 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns on the night..

The Sun Bowl will enter into a new era of its 86-year-old bowl game by naming Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes the title sponsor of the newly-named Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl.

In efforts to improve the student fan experience at Miner football games, the UTEP athletic department succeeded again in improving the overall gameday involvement by allotting an exclusive tailgating area atop the Sun Bowl parking garage for students.

As fall camp approaches for the Miners football team, UTEP will turn its focus to the number one priority: establishing depth at the quarterback spot.

UTEP Director of Athletics Jim Senter announced changes to football tailgating that will make the fan experience around the Sun Bowl a much better one in 2019.

UTEP athletics announced today that four home football games will be 6 p.m. starts, while two in November will be 1 p.m. starts based off over 1,500 surveys from fans.
