The Montwood Rams hosted a short-handed Eastwood Troopers squad that was without star QB Chris Castaneda and prevailed in a high scoring affair 49-30.  The Rams took a 7-3 lead into the second quarter thanks in part to an 18-yard touchdown run by running back Chris Ramos.  Eastwood attempted to fill the void of not having starting qurterback Castaneda by flip-flopping between backups Aidan Garcia and Andrew Martinez.

Both teams exchanged scores in the second quarter as Montwood held a 21-10 edge with 2:49 left before halftime when running back Chris Ramos scored a 65-yard touchdown to give the Rams a commanding 28-10 advantage at the intermission.  Ramos continued his brilliant play early in the third quarter by scoring a 47-yard TD to give Montwood a 35-10 lead.  The Troopers hung around though as quarterback Andrew Martinez score a 1-yard keeper to narrow the margin to 35-17 with 4:32 to go in the third quarter.

A failed onside kick attempt by the Troopers resulted in Montwood scoring again to take a 49-23 lead.  Eastwood answered to cut the deficit to 49-30, but that would be as close as they would get though as their brutal non-district play continued en route to another loss.  Rams' running back Chris Ramos had a night for the ages by accumulating 289 yards on 24 carries to go along with 4 touchdowns.  Montwood quarterback Sebastian Galvan also had a solid evening by going 14 for 20 with 188 yards and 3 TD's.

On the other side Eastwood backup QB Andrew Martinez went 11 of 17 for 169 yards to go along with 2 passing and 1 rushing touchdown.  Wide Receiver AJ Delgado had 9 receptions for 184 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Montwood improved to 3-2, while Eastwood is now 1-4.  Both teams are idle next week before they begin district play on October 11.
