The defending Thorne Cup champion El Paso Rhinos upped their win streak to eight games as the Rhinos swept the Springfield Express in a three-game series, finishing up with a 6-3 win in their final home game of 2014.

El Paso (19-2-0-0, 38 points) now controls the WSHL's Midwest Division, leading second place Oklahoma City by six points.

The Rhinos now head straight to Las Vegas, NV, for the Western States Hockey League Showcase, playing four games beginning Tuesday night against the Missoula Maulers, the Valencia Flyers Wednesday night, the Ogden Mustangs Thursday, then wrapping up 2014 Friday with a rematch of the Thorne Cup Final against the Idaho Junior Steelheads.
