She might not know it yet, but odds are good they’re both wearing different jerseys next season. And I have to say, he doesn’t look consoled. Makes you wonder what she said. If it was one of my girls, she would’ve been asking for concession money.

Anytime a fat man gets kicked out of an ‘all you can eat’ establishment it’s going to go viral. That is precisely what happened to Wisconsin native Bill Wisth. Wisth is a big boy. He goes 6’6″ and tips the scales at 350 lbs.

Wisth was enjoying what he thought was an ‘all you can eat’ fish fry at Chuck’s Place in Theinsville, Wisconsin. Wisth was twelve pieces of fried fish deep when employees informed him he was ‘cut off.’ The restaurant, citing diminishing supplies and patience, was willing to send Wisth on his way with eight more filets of fried fish.

That wasn’t good enough for our portly protagonist. Wisth refused the eight to go pieces and wouldn’t pay his tab. Police were called, and Wisth was kicked out of the restaurant. Two days later Wisth returned with a picket sign.

The restaurant claims there is another side to the story. Chuck’s Place has told reporters that Wisth can’t always pay his tab and they have let him eat there for free.

Wisth told his side of the story to local television reporters.

Long time New York City sports radio personality Mike Francesa went on an anti-Twitter rant on his show yesterday. He basically said Twitter is an inane online community for morons who have nothing of import to say (I’m paraphrasing, of course). He went as far as to say Twitter should be banned.

I actually half agree with his assessment. Once you navigate through the mindless hashtags, boring observations, and self aggrandizing celebrity blurbs there is some substance on Twitter. The great irony is that the famous people with nothing to say have 10,000,000 followers while the lesser known people with a lot to say (in 140 character or less increments) have 679 followers.

Francesa also fears Twitter will cut out the middleman, broadcasters and reporters. I disagree with that school of thought. As long as there is a 24/7 news cycle we will need athlete interviews for filler. Twitter is just a vehicle for athletes to express themselves without the dreaded follow-up. If an athlete steps out of line on Twitter (see Larry Johnson and Rashard Mendenhall) the good old fashioned media will be there demanding explanations and apologies.

Much to the dismay of Mike Francesa, Twitter is here to stay. At this stage in his career, Francesa relishes playing the role of the out of touch troglodyte who wants things to go back to the way they were. He has a large platform and audience, but at some point he has to accept that the toothpaste is out of the tube and it ain’t going back in.

Agree or disagree, it was an entertaining rant!

In 1991, Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz had a brilliant idea. He created an event in which people made homemade ‘flying machines’ and attempted to fly them off a pier. Thus, the Red Bull Flugtag (German for airshow) was born.

Most of the homemade contraptions nose dive right into the water below them, but occasionally they are designed well enough to actually fly. On July 24, 2010 in St. Paul, Minnesota the longest flight in Flugtag history was recorded. The St. Paul entry stayed in the air for 207 feet before finally landing in the water.

Thankfully, the Red Bull Flugtag commercial runs a lot during televised sporting events, and I am treated to this historic moment at least three times a game!!!

It would seem the attraction of the Lingerie Football League is more the lingerie than the football. That’s certainly what grabbed our attention.

But maybe we’re selling the actual game play a bit short. It turns out it can get pretty intense, amongst all the legs and the boobs. In fact, during the LFL’s recent All-Star game, the two opposing coaches starting fighting right in the middle of the field.

This video is NSFW. While that designation suggests spectacular uniform malfunctions amid an orgy of all-out violence, it’s actually because one of the coaches likes to yell profanity in a surprisingly high-pitched voice. So sorry about that.

Bonus points for anybody who can figure out what in the world the fight was about.

Yes, brawling in an all-star game is pretty gauche. But if you had the chance to tempt an entire team of scantily clad ladies into holding you back, you just might go for it too.

All Manchester City had to do was beat the worst road team in the EPL in Queens Park Rangers. But pressure has a way of re-writing scripts. While we love Game 7′s in our playoffs, the English have the last day of the season with a whole bunch of Game 7′s. Sensory overload.

Going into stoppage time, Man City found itself down 2-1. They tied the game quickly, then, improbably, this…

Her passions include martial arts, crossfit and monster trucks. Come to think of it, that’s not a bad idea for a show. Like ‘Wipeout’ on steroids and years of intense training with nunchucks.

Anyone who stays up to watch ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ witnesses a well oiled machine. Kimmel tells a few jokes, has a couple sketches, interviews a couple ‘A-listers,’ introduces a popular musical act, and calls it a night. It is the kind of show one would expect of someone with nearly a decade of experience.

That wasn’t always the case.

In January, 2003 Jimmy Kimmel had achieved a modest level of success with ‘Win Ben Stein’s Money’ and ‘The Man Show.’ He was better known in Los Angeles for his work in radio on the world famous KROQ.

At that time ABC was looking to replace ‘Politically Incorrect’ with Bill Maher with a more traditional late night talk show. After courting David Letterman, Letterman decided to stay with CBS. Trying to reach younger viewers, ABC executives eventually settled on Kimmel.

At first it looked like Kimmel was trying to reinvent the wheel. He didn’t perform an opening monologue, had a high school buddy as his house band leader, prominently featured his family members, had an open bar for his studio audience, and featured a different guest co-host each week.

George Clooney was a guest on the first show, but things quickly went downhill after that. Seven of the first eleven shows were guestless. Less than a month into the show’s run, Adrienne Barbeau was the lead guest. That would have been great…..if it were 1981 and not 2003!!!

As bleak as the first month may have seemed, here’s why it was awesome.

1. Snoop Dogg was an amazing first guest co-host

2. Most of the studio audience was drunk

3. A drunk Adam Carolla deep fried a gold watch

4. Referring to some of the guests as ‘Z listers’ would be kind

5. America was watching a smart aleck learn how to be a talk show host.

This YouTube clip is from February, 26th 2003, exactly one month into the show. Where else could you see Don King, Vince Vaughan, and fake Russian lesbians t.a.T.u. in the same room???

I love how Rose laughed at Kevin, but couldn’t offer up an answer of her own. At least Krishna has watched an NFL game!!!

In some ways I’m relieved two of them couldn’t name Eli Manning. The less interest in sports they have, the more they can concentrate on things that really matter, like coming up with viable alternative energy sources!!!

He led his team to a victory.

The 6-foot teen – who is reported to have refused to wear a prosthetic arm at the age 2 – is not only a force to be reckoned with on the mound but is also quite the hitter. Check out this video of Coleman Shannon basically doing it all on the baseball diamond.

One-handed pitcher Jim Abbott threw a no-hitter against the Cleveland Indians in 1993 but this 14-year old pitcher has one-upped him: he did it with only one arm. Sure, Jim did it against major league hitting, but Coleman is just a kid and kids are usually pretty damn lazy. We know plenty of kids. Some of them are offspring and the others, well, it hasn’t been medically proven yet.

Oh, and the kid can hunt and also plays the guitar. Have you even rolled out of bed yet, slacker? We haven’t, but let’s keep concentrating on you for the moment.

Division III football players usually have as much of a shot at playing in the NFL as our dead grandma but the age of technology has opened up things a bit for anyone with an arm and a camera to turn some heads. If your arm is strong enough, your video is flashy enough and some awful team is desperate enough, anything can happen.

Monmouth University quarterback Alex Tanney, having dubbed himself the “Trick Shot Quarterback”, filmed himself turning throwing drills into something like a game of H-O-R-S-E, nailing any bar of the goal post he chooses from the 50-yard line. ProFootballTalk reports the Buffalo Bills were impressed enough to offer him a tryout.

If things work out for Tanney and the Bills, or maybe some other team, this story is a ready-made Disney flick with an ending that would be ridiculous and cloying if it wasn’t real.

Now we know we’ve got some work to do. We’ll be filming ourselves saying sexist and racist stuff while wearing fedoras, hoping it gets us cast on Mad Men, or at least a coaching position with the Miami Marlins.

Over the weekend, at the end of the Washington Redskins’ rookie minicamp, head coach Mike Shanahan annointed Robert Griffin III the starting quarterback going forward. Griffin was the second pick of the 2012 NFL draft last month, and the Redskins are ready to hand him the keys to the team.

Whether the Redskins are making the right call putting Griffin front and center right away is left to be seen. Some rookies have had success on the field, while others faltered. Each of these players were crowned the saviors to turn a struggling franchise around. Here’s a look back at 10 recent ones and how their efforts turned out:

Peyton Manning

One of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time, Manning stepped in for the Colts right away in 1998 and started all 16 games that years and every other year through the end of the 2010 campaign. Just because he started, though, doesn’t mean he found immediate success. In fact, the Colts went 3-13 in 1998 with Manning throwing more interceptions (28) than touchdowns (26). But with the team’s support behind him, Manning kept his starting spot, and he turned things around in 1999 leading the Colts to a 13-3 record, and he never looked back.

Ryan Leaf

On the other side of the coin in 1998 was Ryan Leaf, who was supposed to bring San Diego to new heights. Unfortunately, things didn’t go that way, as the Chargers finished 5-11 and the defense led the league in yards allowed. Leaf went just 3-6 before being benched in favor of backup Craig Whelihan. Overall in his rookie seasons, Leaf threw just two touchdowns and 15 interceptions. After three years in San Diego, Leaf was gone, and by 2002 he was out of football entirely.

CHRIS WEINKE

Weinke, 28, was the oldest player to win the Heisman Trophy, and was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the 2001 NFL Draft. But Weinke didn’t bring answers for the struggling franchise as they finished the year 1-15, including a then single-season record 15 consecutive losses. After that first year, Weinke lost his starting spot but remained on the roster for many years afterward. In 2006, he got another chance to start a game, which the team lost, but he did throw for 423 yards, setting a franchise record.

Matt Ryan

The Falcons took Matt Ryan in the 2008 NFL draft as a replacement for the jailed Michael Vick. Ryan was supposed to steer the organization back to winning and respectable days. And Ryan came through, helping the Falcons to an 11-5 record. His 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions weren’t impressive stats, but Ryan did enough to get the job done. He went to the Pro Bowl for the first time in 2011 and is poised to be Atlanta’s leader for many years to come.

Joe Flacco

Like Ryan, Flacco arrived to great fanfare and triumph in 2008 when he led the Ravens to an 11-5 record. Baltimore was still very much a defense-oriented team, and Flacco’s serviceable job kept them scoring. In the years since, though, Flacco has propelled the Ravens’ offense to bigger numbers, and the Ravens have gone 12-4 the past two years behind Flacco. They lost in the AFC Championship game last year, but Flacco showed his ability to step up when the time was right, posting even better numbers than during the regular season.

Matthew Stafford

After agreeing to take Stafford with the first pick of the 2009 draft, the Lions announced that he was the quarterback of the future. “This isn’t an internship or an experiment,” Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said. But one man isn’t enough to turn things around for the Lions. Stafford went 2-8 and threw 20 interceptions. Just two years later, Stafford had righted the ship propelling the team to a 10-6 record and earning himself the 2011 AP Comeback Player of the Year, among other awards.

Mark Sanchez

Sanchez was picked to be the Jets new gunslinger in 2009. Like Stafford, Sanchez also struggled. However, the Jets were still able to post a 8-7 record during his starts. That was enough for Sanchez to build on, leading the Jets to an 11-5 record in 2010 when he showed real signs of prowess. After a disappointing 2011 season, some Jets fans have called for Sanchez’s starting job. Even with a quarterback controversy brewing, the team signed Sanchez to a three-year contract extension in March.

Sam Bradford

A 7-9 record in a rookie campaign might not seem like a great success, but for Sam Bradford and the Rams in 2010 that was a great sign of improvement. Bradford did just enough to get by, throwing for 18 touchdowns while also tossing 15 picks, but his 3,512 yards were many more than what his supporters would have expected from him and the Rams’ pitiful receiving core. He set the record for most completions by a rookie and he was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Yet Bradford ran into some setbacks last year, going just 1-9 as a starter as the Rams fell apart.

Cam Newton

The first pick of last year’s draft, Newton took over the Panthers from the get-go. His 6-10 record is not exactly something to write home about, but Newton’s personal stats got the league buzzing. He set the record for most passing yards by a rookie quarterback with 4,051 and he also ran for another 706 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. How good was he? Newton was the runner-up to Calvin Johnson for the cover of Madden NFL 2013.

Andy Dalton

Few people at the start of last season would have predicted that Dalton would lead the Bengals to one of the league’s biggest surprise seasons. Behind Dalton, Cincinnati finished 9-7 and went to the playoffs. He showed leadership by leading his team to four fourth-quarter comebacks. Dalton went to the Pro Bowl, capping quite a season for someone not even taken in the first round.
