The UTEP Women's basketball team will conclude a five and a half week road trip that has spanned both coasts and accounted for approximately 11,000 plus miles to open conference play at FIU in Miami on Friday, and at FAU on Sunday.  Thus far the Miners are 4-3 on their journey that lasted all of December and is the longest time away from the friendly confines of the Don Haskins Center since the 1987-88 season.

UTEP will enter Friday's game at FIU looking to avenge a heartbreaking 88-87 triple overtime 35 plus foot buzzer-beating loss in Miami last year.  Overall the Miners are 14-22 all time in conference openers and 5-2 versus FIU, 1-1 in Miami.  The Panthers come into the contest with a 3-10 record, however half of their loses have come by single digit points. FIU also features back-to-back C-USA players of the week in Alexis Gordon and Kristian Hudson.

The Miners will venture to Boca Raton, located just 47 miles north of Miami to face Florida Atlantic on Sunday.  UTEP is led by redshirt senior Tamara Seda, who is averaging 15.7 points 10.5 rebounds, and has recorded a whopping 7 double-doubles.  Seda is ranked 22nd in the nation in rebounding and continues to be a fierce presence in the low post.  Najala Howell is second on the team in scoring, averaging 13.5 points.  She has made 21 three pointers, while playing a team-leading 32.8 minutes per contest.
