A little more than three hours after the UTEP women's basketball team was left out of the NCAA Tournament, the Miners learned that they would host Abilene Christian in the first round of the WNIT. The game will be Thursday at 7:05pm at the Don Haskins Center and tickets priced at $6 for general admission and $4 for UTEP students will go on sale tomorrow morning at 9am.

“I’m thankful to be able to coach my team again,” UTEP head coach Keitha Adams said. “It will be a great game. Let’s sell out the Don Haskins Center, 12,222 fans, and make this the hottest ticket in town.”

The Miners finished the season with a 26-4 record and they won the CUSA regular season title. UTEP defeated UAB in overtime in the CUSA Tournament quarterfinals, but lost to Old Dominion in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Abilene Christian finished their season with a 26-3 record and they won the Southland Conference regular season championship. However, the Wildcats were not eligible for their postseason conference tournament for another two years, since they are transitioning into Division 1. Three of their players were named to all-conference teams, and junior guard Alexis Mason was named the league's Player of the Year. If the Miners win Thursday night, they would face either Arkansas State or Southern in the second round of the WNIT.
