UTEP rebounded from a loss to Charlotte to begin conference play with a 66-56 win over Marshall on Saturday night.   Both teams shot under 40 percent in the first half, the game was tied 27-27 at halftime.  The Miners came out on fire in the second half as they went on a 24-6 run and built an 18 point lead.  Marshall went on a 21-8 run of their own late in the game to cut the deficit to five at 60-55 with 1:37 remaining.  UTEP finished strong to get the victory and have now won three of their last four games.

UTEP is now 11-6 on the season. Vince Hunter led all scorers with 20 points which is a career high for him, John Bohannon scored 18 points which put him over 1,000 points, and Julian Washburn added 17 points.  Following the game Coach Floyd discussed his satisfaction with the victory, and the streak that his team is currently on, he noted,

Coach Floyd also spoke about the Miners next opponent Middle Tennessee, he mentioned,

The Miners will have two difficult road games coming up next week, at this point the best thing they can do is continue to maintain their composure and despite all the turbulence this season, things aren't looking bad at all at this point.
