The Miners began a 3 game home stand with a dominating 62-50 victory over the Tulane Green Wave.  The enthusiastic crowd of 9,014 welcomed UTEP home with open arms, especially since it has been nearly 2 weeks since the team has played a game at the Don Haskins Center.

UTEP's smothering defense was the key to the win, as the team held the Green Wave to 40.4 percent shooting throughout the contest.  Julian Washburn and Jacques Streeter shut down Tulane's two top players.  Josh Davis, C-USA's leader in scoring and rebounding was held to just 8 points and 2 rebounds. While Ricky Durrant came into the game averaging 17.5 points in league play, managed to score only 2 points.

Offensively, the Miners were sharp all night long.  McKenzie Moore scored 14 points, Konner Tucker added 11, and Julian Washburn contributed by scoring 12 points. The win was significant for two primary reasons.  First, because it moved the Miners into a 3rd place tie in the C-USA standings, secondly, becasue it was a confidence builder after they blew a huge lead and lost to UAB last Wednesday.

UTEP will continue their 3 game home stand as they welcome Rice on Wednesday, and Tulsa on Saturday.  The Miners have played exceptionally well at home this season with a record of 10-1 thus far.
