In what turned out to be a very competitive game, the Miners pulled away late in the second half to quiet the Thundering Herd of Marshall 64-56 and move to 21-2 overall and 10-0 in C-USA.

The first half was slow and the Miners were sluggish. UTEP led the entire the whole way until the 1:02 mark when Marshall took their first lead, 23-22 and led at the half on a 3 pointer at the buzzer 26-25.

The second half proved to be a tough fight for the Miners. They trailed by as many as 5 points on three separate occasions until the 10:13 mark when UTEP took the lead for good 45-44 and went on to silence the Thundering Herd 64-56.

Kayla Thornton put together an outstanding performance with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks. Anete Steinberga, chipped in with 12 points and 6 boards.

Marshall was paced by Alaya Mitchell with 10 points. Erica Woods and Alyse Poindexter each had 7 rebounds.
