Two former Frankiln Cougars have been drafted in the 2011 MLB first year player draft.  The Phillies grabbed 2007 graduate Michael Marshall in the 30th round with the 931st selection.  Marshall hit .337 with 15 home runs and 68 RBI last year for Lubbock Christian University.  He also went 9-0 with 101 strikeouts for the Chaparrals.

2011 Franklin graduate Ricky Jacquez finally heard his name called by the Chicago Cubs in the 39th round with the 1179th selection.  In his senior campaign at Franklin Jacquez was 9-1 with a 1.25 ERA.  He hit .435 with six homers and 29 RBI.

Jacquez was considered a top 100 prospect by ESPN's Keith Law.  There is some speculation teams shied away from Jacquez because it would be pricey to lure him away from his commitment to the University of Texas.
