Former UTEP Miner and NBA basketball player Tim Hardaway is one of the 12 finalist for the Basketball Hall of Fame. 

Tim Hardaway was the star player for UTEP from 1985-1989. He was also a 5 time NBA All Star and played in the NBA from 1989-2003. He played for Golden State where he was the "T" in the famous "RUN TMC" along with Mitch Richmond and Chris Mullin. Hardaway had one of the best  crossover dribbles known as the "UTEP Two-step."

He also played for the Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets and the Indiana Pacers.

The other finalists for the Hall of Fame are  Kentucky coach John Calipari and four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year Dikembe Mutombo, NBA referee Dick Bavetta, five-time three-time All-Star Kevin Johnson, three-time WNBA MVP Lisa Leslie, Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan, seven-time All-Star Jo Jo White, four-time All-Star Spencer Haywood, former NBA coach Bill Fitch and high school coaches Robert Hughes and Leta Andrews as finalists.
