The NFL is Considering an 8 Game Season…Why?

I just read a story in the Sports Business Journal that the NFL is considering cutting their 2011 season in half from 16 games to 8. Even if a new labor agreement is reached by mid to late October, the NFL would do everything in their power to salvage the 2011 season, even if it means reducing the league schedule to 8 games. The crazy thing about this scenario is they would cram free agency, training camp, and one exhibition game into 5 weeks and then start the abbreviated season. As much as I love the NFL, this plan is a joke and I would rather skip the season entirely than see them play just 8 games.
