In what had to be the most incredible finish in Stanley Cup Finals history, the Chicago Blackhawks scored 2 goals in a 17 second span to win the Cup for the second time in 4 years.

Holding on to a  2-1 lead with time winding down in the 3rd period, the Bruins looked like they were on their way to a game 6 victory, and subsequently a ticket back to Chicago for game 7 on Wednesday.  Chicago, as they did all season long displayed  the type of will that truly lies in the hearts of champions.

With 1:29 remaining in the contest, the Blackhawks pulled their goalie Corey Crawford and Bryan Bickell tied it up for Chicago with 1:16 left in the 3rd.  At that point it seemed as though the two teams were headed to another overtime game.  After all, three out of the first five games went to overtime, so it would have been a fitting end to another classic game between the Blackhawks and Bruins.

The Hawks had other ideas though as Dave Bolland scored the improbable game winning goal just 17 seconds later.  Jonathan Towes also scored a goal for Chicago, and goaltender Cory Crawford was virtually flawless in the net, making 23 saves.  The Blackhawks were the best team in the NHL all season long, they set the record for gaining a point in 24 consecutive games.

So the question arises, are the 2013 Chicago Blackhawks the greatest team in NHL history?  Some may argue that it was a strike shortened 48 game season, but the fact remains that the Hawks record of achieving a point in their first 24 games speaks for itself.  Combine that with a Stanley Cup Championship, and becoming only the 8th team in NHL history to win the Presidents' trophy in the same season; I believe that they are the best team ever.

Many people may argue with me, and that is understandable, all I know is that the Chicago Blackhawks are Stanley Cup champions again for the second time in 4 seasons.  With the remarkable talent and youth of Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, they will most certainly be a contender for years to come.  In case you missed the crazy finish in game 6 at Boston where the Hawks scored 2 goals in 17 seconds, here is the video.
