It wasn't that long ago that Kliff Kingsbury was leading Mike Leach's 'Air Raid' offense in Lubbock.  In 2013, he will be instilling his version of the 'Air Raid' as head coach of his alma mater.  ESPN.com's Joe Schad is reporting that Tech has hired Kingsbury to replace the departed Tommy Tuberville.

At 33, Kingsbury is among the youngest head coaches in the country.  He doesn't lack for experience, however.

Kingsbury started his coaching career as a quality control assistant at Houston in 2008.  He was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2011, and followed Kevin Sumlin to Texas A&M.

Certainly the play of Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel helped Kingsbury's stock, but he should be a great head coach.  He understands Lubbock, and is one of the bright young offensive minds in the country.
