For the the first 25 minutes of the game, the UTEP Miners and Texas Tech Red Raiders played a competitive game. Once Miners running back Aaron Jones got injured, the Red Raiders had their way with the Miners beating UTEP 69-20.

Jones was injured late in the 2nd quarter, up to that point he was having a monster game in which he rushed 17 times for 139 yards and had scored two touchdowns one of those being  a UTEP record setting 91 yard TD run. Without him in the second half, UTEP gained 64 yards on the ground and Texas Tech scored 45 points

The Miners main problem is the defense. For the second straight week, the secondary couldn't stop the offense. Red Raiders quaterback Patrick Mahomes passed for four touchdowns and rushed for two others. Texas Tech gained 674 yards on the Miners.

The Miners look to get their first win on Saturday September 10th as they play the NMSU Aggies in the battle of I-10.
