Everybody seems to enjoy a good brawl in baseball and yesterday afternoon, we had just that in a Double-A game between the Frisco RoughRiders (Texas Rangers) and Corpus Christi Hooks (Houston Astros). The two Texas League teams were only in the bottom of the second inning when Hooks' designated hitter Danry Vasquez was hit in the leg by a pitch from RoughRiders starter Yohander Mendez. Vasquez did not waste any time charging the mound and trying to land a punch on Mendez. The pitcher tried to run away and then threw his glove at Vasquez before both players wrestled each other to the ground between the mound and first base. When the fight was finally broken up, both Vasquez and Mendez were ejected, along with Corpus Christi right fielder Ramon Laureano.

Although the bench clearing incident yesterday afternoon was a good one, it still does not compare to the Albuquerque brawl with Reno from a few years ago. That slugfest, which happened to be filmed by a fan behind the plate, is still one of the best fights in minor league baseball history.
