In the latest installment of the 'it's not you it's me' relationship between Texas A&M and the Big 12, the Aggies have notified the Big 12 that they plan to leave the conference by July 2012.

According to a news release on the school website, the Aggies officially notified the Big 12 that they will submit an application to join another athletic conference (most likely the SEC).  If the application is accepted Texas A&M will end its membership in the Big 12 effective June 30, 2012.

The SEC said today that it had not received an application from Texas A&M to join the league and that it would have no further comment.

One would expect the SEC to take that public stance at this time, but we can be rest assured that Aggies have not sent their application to the Big East or the MAC!
