Four Former Miners Earn NFL Free Agent Tryouts

Now that the lockout is over, NFL teams have to cram five months of an off-season into three weeks!  Four undrafted UTEP Miners finally got the phone calls they were waiting for.  Quarterback Trevor Vittatoe, running back Donald Buckram, wide receiver Kris Adams, and offensive lineman Rod Huntley all received invites to NFL camps.

Caracter ‘Goes Hungry, Leaves Arrested.’

Former UTEP Miner and current Los Angeles Laker forward Derrick Caracter was arrested at an IHOP in downtown New Orleans early Sunday morning.  The 22 year old was arrested for allegedly striking a pregnant waitress.

Floyd, UTEP Land Recruit

Arkansas high school senior Hooper Vint has chosen UTEP.  Vint had been recruited by the University of Arkansas under former coach John Pelphrey, but narrowed his choices to Arkansas-Little Rock and UTEP.  In an interview with channel 5 news in Fayetteville, Arkansas Vint discusses why he chose El Paso and UTEP.  Thanks to our old pal John Engleman for the tip.
