UTEP head coach Mike Price says he's "disappointed, frustrated, but not discouraged" after the Miners' 37-26 loss to Wisconsin in Madison, WI. The Miners are developing a reputation as a hard-hitting team going into Conference USA play.
Wisconsin may have taken care of business against UTEP, winning, 37-26; but the Miners did nothing to take away from their growing reputation as a physical team, including DB Richard Spencer's big hit on Badgers' Montee Ball that forced the all-America running back's first fumble ever.
I'm sure I've been a little harsh at times, but it was nothing compared to Kansas City sports radio host Bob "Bulldog" Fescoe. The KU grad has spent almost 10 years talking Kansas City sports, but decided he was fed up with the Chiefs after the first two weeks of the season.
UTEP's season opener against the No.4 ranked Oklahoma Sooners was the talk of the town. Having such a highly ranked team to kickoff the season should have sold out way before the Miners stepped onto the field. Regardless of the predictions, it was like a New Year's bowl game in September and a chance to see a Big XII powerhouse in the our house.
UTEP sophomore RB Nathan Jeffery was tabbed the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week announced the league office on Monday. This is the first career honor for Jeffery and the first for the Miners since the 2010 campaign.
