UTEP head football coach Mike Price might be a little loopy from the medication he's on for a slight respiratory infection, but he's still effective when he channels his inner Yoda.

The Miners gave their fans the type of performance they have been begging for yesterday afternoon in New Orleans. They dominated both sides of the ball, thoroughly destroyed their C-USA opponent, and ended a 12-game conference road losing streak against Tulane.

When Houston and UTEP meet every year you never know what to expect.  This trend continued as the 2 teams met for a rare Thursday night game at the Sun Bowl.  Houston won the game 49-42 in front of a rather thin crowd of 24,111.  It's a shame that more people didn't show up becasue they missed remarkable offensive performances by both squads as they combined for 1,248 total yards.

At this point in the season Miner fans are growing tired of hearing about moral victories and close calls.  With that in mind I'm going to tell the fans what they want to hear.  The Miners should have defeated Houston at the Sun Bowl.

For the third straight year the silver spade and brass spittoon will reside in El Paso.  The Miners were able to crawl away victorious in a game of who could dodge more bullets.

First the good news.  The Miners needed only two plays in overtime to defeat the Stony Brook Seawolves 31-24.  The bad news; the Miners needed overtime to defeat the Stony Brook Seawolves!

UTEP announced another football coaching hire today. Gabe Franklin, a former standout defensive back with Boise State, joins Mike Price and the Miners for the 2011 season.

UTEP sports fans have always reminded me of that person in a relationship afraid of getting dumped by their significant other. Every time we get a high profile coach like Mike Price and now Tim Floyd, fans are always ready to push the panic button.

I spent Saturday night at the Sun Bowl for the entire UTEP Spring game. They billed it as the Orange and Blue game, but Miner players wore Blue and White jerseys.
