As usual, my mind was racing this morning and I could not sleep. So at 5:30 this morning, I turned on the TV and tuned into Mike and Mike in The Morning.

In my haze, I am listening and not believing what I am hearing.

Not more than a few weeks ago, Cris Carter and Keyshawn Johnson analysts for ESPN, were trying to give Tom Jackson a fellow analyst a hard time on the air because he wouldn't say that Tim Tebow is not NFL quarterback material. It takes a lot to get Tom Jackson mad, and let me tell they were doing a good job of it!

By now you have heard about the unspeakable acts that have gone on at Penn State University. If you listen to sports talk radio as much as I do, you have been hearing about it non stop for the past two days.

The sad thing is, we are not hearing about the victims.

Now I am not talking about the Grand Jury PDF that ESPN has on ESPN.com. Which by the way, if you can make it though all 23 pages, there is something seriously wrong with you. I understand it is public knowledge, but do we really need to read that?

Let me make this clear. I am not wanting to know who the victims are and I do not want to know what has happend to each one of them. It would be nice if some attention could be paid to where it needs to be paid for once.

So, there I was this morning. Doing what I always do.  I had just kissed my beautiful wife goodbye as she headed off to work and I was watching The Dan Patrick Show and The Herd while searching the net for sports stories and updates.

As I am watching, the bottom line scroll on ESPNEWS and it says that West Virginia is going to the Big 12 and.... Louisville Coach Rick Pitino "SAYS" that Louisville will remain in the Big East, according to Andy Katz.

REALLY???

For those of you that don't know me,  I LIVE for sports. It doesn't matter what sport it is, I want to watch it and talk about it.

Heck, there are some people that probably don't like to be around me too much because all I talk about is sports! Ha!

I know it's a problem, but it's what I have always loved doing and I am very fortunate to have my wife Rochelle. She understands and accepts this.  That's why a few months ago when I was at a crossroads on what to do with my life, she said I should go into sports talk  radio.  She said to me "Well, you love sports and you love to talk. So why not go for it?".

So the next thing I know, I have signed up for a Broadcasting School and I have an Internship at 600 ESPN El Paso under Steve Kaplowitz!

The saying "living the dream" does not begin to describe what I am doing! I get up everyday, turn the TV on Dan Patrick, turn on my computer and visit my favorite sports blog sites and check out my favorite sports apps on my phone. Inundating myself with as much sports information as I possibly can. Why??? BECAUSE IT'S MY JOB!!! That never gets old saying that!

So I am going to do my best to put into words what goes on in my world, as well as what goes on at Sports Talk on 600 ESPN El Paso.

When people decide to become race car drivers, they expect to have a long successful career. These drivers have nerves of steel and they are fearless. In the Izod Indy Racing League they can reach speeds of over 220 mph. It takes a lot of guts to get behind the wheel of any car that can move that fast.

Never do they think about having their life cut short by dying on the track. More to the point, going airborne into a safety fence and bursting  into a fiery ball of flames.

Sadly that is what happened today at Las Vegas Motor Speedway when we lost Dan Wheldon.
