			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Former Chicago Cubs third baseman Ron Santo <a title="Ron Santo" href="http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/7318808/ron-santo-elected-baseball-hall-fame" >has been elected posthumously</a> to the Baseball Hall  of Fame, garnering 93.8 percent of the vote from the Golden Era  committee. In his 32nd year of eligibility, Santo has finally reached baseball&#8217;s highest honor.</p>
<p>Santo has long been a fan favorite, and his death last year from complications due to bladder cancer and pneumonia might have earned him the additional votes he required for induction.</p>
