Summer Festival Mania, 2012

There’s a summer festival tour of some kind coming to your town!

Or somewhere near your town.  There HAS to be … there’s a gazillion of them out there this year.  Here’s a quick rundown of some of the cooler ones and their stops!  Not all are “Festivals” … some are just big time band matchups.  No matter what, they’re gonna rock! 

(The city or cities I actually list by them are … as of this writing … the closest to the El Paso/Las Cruces area. Or they’re the easiest drive from here anyway!) 

Friday and Saturday right here in El Chuco; The El Paso Downtown Street Festival!!  Kansas, Saliva, Blue Oyster Cult, Filter, Theory Of A Deadman, Candlebox, fireworks shows and more!!!!!!!  More info at KLAQ.com!

Aerosmith and Cheap Trick are going out together on “The Global Warming Tour“! (Dallas/Houston)

Def Leppard, Poison and Lita Ford (You may have a little trouble telling Lita from some of the Poison guys) … see the dates at loudwire.com. (Vegas/Denver)

Kiss and Motley Crue are out on “The Tour” this summer.  They should have called it the “hide your daughters tour”.  Oh wait, Genes married now … never mind.  (Albuquerque)

Catch Slipknot (with their mystery bassist), Slayer, Anthrax, Motorhead and more … lots more … out on the Mayhem Tour. (Albuquerque)

Everclear, Sugar Ray, Gin Blossoms, Lit and Marcy Playground are on The Summerland Tour. (El Paso 7/4–Speaking Rock)

Jack Russell’s Great White, Faster Pussycat, Pretty Boy Floyd, Bulletboys, and Lillian Axe are seeking rockers … and quality hair care products … this summer on the “America Rocks Tour“. (Laredo/San Antonio)

The Summer Slaughter Tour features Cannibal Corpse, Between The Buried And Me, The Faceless, Periphery, Veil Of Maya, Job For A Cowboy, Goatwhore (I love that band name), Exhumed and Cerebral Bore. (Scottsdale Az.)

After that last one, you may want to give your neck a break (if you haven’t broken it already) and catch the Last Summer On Earth Tour with Barenaked Ladies, Blues Traveler, Cracker and Big Head Todd & The Monsters! If you have a new hottie you’re trying to score with this summer, this is probably the one for you!  (Albuquerque)

Back to the good stuff, the Trespass America Tour!  Five Finger Death Punch, Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Pop Evil, Emmure, God Forbid and Battlecross! (Rio Rancho New Mexico, outside Albq.)

Finally The Carnival Of Madness tour.  Or the “Hotties Of Rock Tour” … Evanescence and Halestorm for the fellas; Chevelle, Cavo and New Medicine for the ladies.  The rock and the madness are for everyone!!  (El Paso, 8/18 — Haskins Center)
