PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Steelers coaching staff has plenty to weigh as it tries to decide on the 53 players who will survive final cuts.

The Steelers finished up a lackluster preseason with a 10-0 loss to Carolina on Thursday night. It was the first time the franchise has been shut out in an exhibition in 22 years.

Third-string quarterback Landry Jones completed 14 of 19 passes for just 97 yards while playing into the third quarter. Coach Mike Tomlin said he's not certain if the team needs three active quarterbacks heading into the regular season.

Wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey put together a strong training camp and finished with nine receptions in four preseason games as he tries to beat out Derek Moye for a roster spot.
