DALLAS (AP) — Cody Eakin tied it at 12:58 of the second period and rookie Alex Chiasson scored the only goal of the shootout to lift the Dallas Stars to a 4-3 win over San Jose on Thursday night that ended the Sharks' perfect start to the season.

The Sharks (6-0-1) fell one game shy of tying the best start in their history, last season's 7-0 beginning.

Tyler Kennedy, Matthew Nieto and Patrick Marleau scored for San Jose. Antti Niemi made 28 saves.

The Stars out shot San Jose 31-29 in regulation, but the Sharks took all five shots on goal in the overtime.
