Even though Al Davis is gone, Raider nation is hopeful the Raider mystique will continue.  The team hasn't been to the playoffs since 2003, and has its sixth head coach in nine seasons.

First year head coach Dennis Allen is the first defensive minded head coach the Raiders have had since John Madden left for the broadcast booth in 1978.  Allen hopes to restore discipline to a team that is consistently among the league leaders in penalties.

Carson Palmer looks to be the answer for Oakland's quarterbacking woes.  The Raiders have struggled to find a franchise quarterback since Rich Gannon retired in 2004.

Carlos LaRoche covers the Raiders for KGO, the ABC affiliate in San Francisco.

LaRoche feels often injured running back Darren McFadden is the key to Oakland's success in 2012.

And remember:  The autumn wind is a pirate!!!
