South Texas Athletic Trainer Gets 15 Years in Prison for Student Sex
VICTORIA, Texas (AP) — An ex-athletic trainer for a South Texas district has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for having sex with a student at her home and in a school parking lot.
Jurors in Victoria late Thursday sentenced 33-year-old Jesse Earl Holmes in the case involving a 15-year-old girl.
The Victoria Advocate reports Holmes on Tuesday pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault of a child.
Holmes was hired by the Victoria Independent School District in 2010. Investigators say he was an athletic trainer at Victoria East High School when he had sex with the girl in the fall of 2012, plus sent sexually explicit texts to several students.
Prosecutors say Holmes still faces two counts of an improper relationship between an educator and a student involving another girl.
