There's no penalty for this weird move, but personally, it's kind of foul.

West Virginia Mountaineers quarterback Skyler Howard shared a little spit with running back Wendell Smallwood during the team's game against Texas Tech Saturday. Howard greased Smallwood's hand with his saliva before a play.

Ostensibly, this was done so Smallwood, who ran the ball a lot during the game, wouldn't fumble. But why couldn't Smallwood just spit in his own hand? Or be provided with gloves that do not need spit on them to work effectively?

Or you could just leave it at what the person who uploaded a Vine of the incident asked: "Why?"
