The New England Patriots have made a very surprising trade. They have traded one of their best players, defense lineman Chandler Jones to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for guard Jonathon Cooper and a second round draft pick.

The pick up of Jones makes the Cardinals a legit Super Bowl contender. They only thing that they will have to deal with is the fact that Jones will be a free agent at the end of the 2016 season but the Cardinals have a year to convince him to stay. Either way it's a great trade for the Cardinals.

As far as the Patriots go, they must see some pontential in Cooper. He was the seventh overall pick in the 2013 draft but has been plagued with injuries. Plus they must have thought that they wouldn't be able to keep Jones once he becomes a free agent. It's not the first or last time the Patriots will get rid of a big name player because they don't want to pay him.
