We all know that rivalry games are already heated, but no one ever deserves to get injured because they choose to cheer on one team over another.

One zealous Lobo fan.....(we think) more than crossed the line when he fired a bullet into the air outside Aggie Memorial Stadium sometime in the third quarter of the Lobos' 27-14 win over the Aggies.

At about 8 p.m., a woman said she felt the bullet hit her thigh. A paramedic who happened to be sitting nearby initially attended to her, then she was transported to an El Paso hospital after receiving more treatment from emergency personnel at the stadium.

According to NMSU police, she has been released from the hospital without significant injury.

I gotta hand it to the NMSU police for realizing it was an isolated incident and not an active shooter.  Some would argue that the police should have erred on the side of caution and stopped the game to allow fans to evacuate, but why create panic and hysteria if you don't have to?
