Earlier today, NMSU basketball player Tyrone Watson was arrested by Las Cruces Police and charged with one third-degree felony count of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. Late last week, NMSU head men's basketball coach Marvin Menzies suspended Watson indefinitely from the team. Detectives learned that Watson and a 19-year old man were at a January 26th campus party together. When Watson saw the teenager dancing with his girlfriend, the Aggies senior forward became upset and punched the man at least once.

After witnesses pulled Watson off of the teenager, the victim was brought to the hospital. According to Watson, he saw his girlfriend and the 19-year-old man dancing in what he believed to be an inappropriate manner which prompted him to react.
