The Florida State Seminoles have scored a major coup by signing highly sought-after linebacker Matthew Thomas.

Thomas, out of Miami’s Booker T. Washington High School, was reportedly the Seminoles’ top priority. After signing, he said, “I want (my family) to come see me play and support me and I think Florida State is a good place to do that. My goals are to play early, contribute to the team and do what I can to help them win.”

Thomas was ranked the sixth player in the country, according to ESPN. He was also considering Miami, Alabama, Georgia and Southern Cal.

Thomas’ teammate at Booker. T. Washington, Denver Kirkland, will not be heading to Tallahassee with him, though. Kirkland, an offensive lineman, will play college ball at Arkansas, as new coach Bret Bielema tries to rebuild that program.
