NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) — The real-life Jerry Maguire is back in business.

Leigh Steinberg has been recertified as an agent by the NFL Players Association and launched Steinberg Sports and Entertainment on Friday

Steinberg, the inspiration for Tom Cruise's character in "Jerry Maguire," says he'll represent football players starting with next spring's NFL draft. He hopes to expand into baseball, basketball, hockey, golf tennis, MMA and consult on TV shows and movies.

The former super agent's certification lapsed during his battle with alcoholism. He also went through bankruptcy.

He once represented half the NFL's starting quarterbacks, and seven of his former clients are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Says the 64-year-old Steinberg: "I'm not looking to compete with my past."
