The Sonic Battle of I-10 on Tuesday night was far from a battle and watching tonight's game makes you wonder what  Lady Miner team was at the Pan Am Center for  the 76-72 OT victory on November 16th.

The Lady Miners went on a 9-2 run and took a 23-8 lead over the NMSU Lady Aggies at the half. The second half was pure domination in all phases of the game by the Lady Miners and they cruised to a lopsided 63-27 victory.

With 6:47 to go in the first half, Coach Keitha Adams called time out to settle down her Lady Miners and settle down they did. The unselfish display of passing that the Lady Miners put on was tremendous and they had 16 assists to show for it. The rebounding battle went to the Lady Miners as well 39-37, as Kristine Vitola lead the way with a game high 10 boards.

Perhaps the main key to this victory was defense, as they forced 25 Lady Aggie turnovers.  The Lady Miners defended the basket well by holding the Lady Aggies to 18.4% shooting for the game. The Lady Aggies  had been averaging 36.2% from the field.

The only bright spot for the Lady Aggies, they were 8 for 8 from the line.

Kelli Willingham lead the way for the Lady Miners with a game high 13 points. She also added 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and only 1 turnover. Kayla Thornton had 12 points and 5 rebounds.

Next up for the Lady Miners, Lamar on Thursday night. Tip is set for 7:05pm at the Don Haskins Center.

If the same Lady Miner team I saw tonight shows up, Lamar is in for a really long night.

Go Miners!
