Townsquare Media (KLAQ, KISS-FM and 600 ESPN El Paso), teamed up to compete in the Media Charity Softball Tournament this weekend at Cohen Stadium to help raise money for the West Texas Food Bank! We were determined to have a better showing this year than last time, and we hoped to win against the El Paso Times team.

We kicked off the five inning game with a great fast start, knocking in three runs and almost going all the way through our lineup! We felt great as we took to the field for the bottom of the first, and we only allowed the Times to scrape out two runs, and Brad DuBossman struck out three batters!

We didn't manage to keep the pace up, as we were taken out of the second inning quite quickly, but we managed to keep the Times from scoring in the second as well.

Our top of the third wasn't any better, and we headed into the bottom of the third still up by one run! It looked like we could turn things around and really win one this year! We still had a lot of hope going into the bottom of the third inning. Our opponents, unfortunately, turned things up and scored another 3 runs in the bottom of the third, making the game 5-3 in favor of the El Paso Times.

Our fourth inning was about a productive as the last two, and we headed into the bottom of the fourth, hoping to at least hold our opponents to their one run lead, so we'd get one more chance to pull back ahead in the top of the fifth. Alas, it was not to be, as the Times scored four more runs in the bottom of the fourth to lead us 9-3. We knew we had to really have a great inning, and get ahead, since the game was over after five.

We didn't exactly rise to the challenge, going down rather quickly in the top of the fifth as well, so the home team Times didn't even have to head to the plate again to achieve this victory over us, with a final score of 9-3.

We will rally for the next tournament, and maybe we'll even get the team together earlier than Friday, and maybe even practice for the next one! We all had a great time, and we hope we could help raise money for the West Texas Food Bank. If you'd like to make a donation, please feel free here.
