Just days after taking a ton of heat for leaving at halftime of the Thanksgiving Day blowout to the New England Patriots, Jets Super Fan, Fireman Ed Anzalone, has retired as the Jets unofficial mascot.

Blaming the the growing confrontations  with other Jets fans because of his allegiance to Jets Quarterback Mark Sanchez, Fireman Ed will no longer attend games in his customary outfit.

Fireman Ed received the game ball in 2009 from Rex Ryan after the Jets upset the Patriots at home and he has also been a faithful Jets fan since 1975.

It is really sad to think that a 53 year old man who has an unwavering passion for the team he loves, feels so threatened that he has to stop doing what he loves most.

Who now will step up and take the torch as the next Jets Super fan? I nominate Steve Kaplowitz!
