Hunter Renfroe is enjoying his first call-up to the Major Leagues. After spending the entire 2016 season with the El Paso Chihuahuas, Renfroe is quickly acclimating himself to the San Diego Padres lineup and big league pitching. Last night, he hit two home runs and drove in all seven of the Padres’ runs in their 7-1 rout of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Renfroe became the first Padres rookie in team history to drive in seven runs in a game.
Renfroe is now batting .353 with three home runs and eight RBIs for the Padres. Prior to last night’s game against the Dodgers, the team honored the El Paso Chihuahuas for their Pacific Coast League Championship. Renfroe, Carlos Asuaje, Austin Hedges, and Manny Margot were part of the festivities, along with members of the Chihuahuas ownership group and staff. El Paso Chihuahuas radio voice Tim Hagerty was also part of the celebration at Petco Park in San Diego.
