The Horizon Scorpions scored like it was going out of style, and easily defeated the Bowie Bears 62-18 in their Class 4A Division Bi-District playoff game at Emperor Stadium.

Horizon quarterback Jesus Flores completed 15 of 16 passes for 195  yards, and had 4 touchdown passes.  The Scorpions also utilized quarterback Joseph Fresquez who was 7-7 with 108 yards, and had 2 rushing touchdowns.

Bowie had so much success on the ground this season, but even with their dynamic running game, they were no match for Horizon.  The Scorpions had a 27-0 by the second quarter, and their defense was equally impressive stopping Bowie on two 4th down attempts in the first half.  By halftime the game was out of reach as Horizon led 48-12.

Bowie has nothing to be ashamed of, Coach Robert Padilla mentioned prior to the game that "he was very proud of his team for making the playoffs for the third time in four seasons."  The Bears were irrelevant for so many years, and have a lot to look forward to in the future.

As for Horizon, with the Bi-District playoff victory, they will move on to the Area round to face a tough Friendship team who is 10-1.  The game will be played in Odessa at a date and time to be determined.
