The scariest scene of the 2014 Major League Baseball season happened tonight at Miller Park in Milwaukee. Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton was hit flush in the face by the Brewers' Mike Fiers during the fifth inning tonight. Stanton could not get out of the way in time and Fiers' fastball sent baseball's best young slugger out on a stretcher.

You could tell by Fiers' reaction that he did not intend for the pitch to get that close to Stanton. However, the benches cleared the very next pitch when Fiers strikes out Reed Johnson, who came in to finish Stanton's at bat. The Marlins retaliated the next inning when Anthony DeSclafani hits Carlos Gomez.

Although the Brewers won the game 4-2, the biggest loss is obviously Stanton, who is leading the National League in home runs, RBIs, and slugging percentage.
