Last winter, when Isaac Hamilton announced to the world on ESPNU that he was going to play basketball at UTEP, many El Paso basketball fans could not contain their excitement. Others, were probably thinking that the news was too good to be true. Ironically, Hamilton will not play basketball for the Miners, but instead he will be attending the school whose colors match the same outfit he wore on ESPNU last November.

ESPN's Jeff Goodman reported that Hamilton will enroll at UCLA and play for the Bruins. Although the 5th ranked shooting guard in ESPN's Class of 2013 will sit out the upcoming basketball season, he will still be on scholarship. The Bruins suddenly became interested in Hamilton after losing guard Quentin Snider to Illinois. It is also ironic that UCLA head coach Steve Alford benefits from signing Hamilton. Before taking over the UCLA job, Alford built a successful team at New Mexico, and had also refused to play UTEP after coaches from both schools almost came to blows prior to an NIT game in 2011.
