Football Friday Nights- Applebee’s Top Ten
After four weeks of play I don't know what the biggest surprise is; Coronado is 0-3, Burges is 3-0, or Eastwood is 2-1. In a lot of ways Eastwood's 2-1 start in '11 is more impressive than their 3-0 start in '10. At least David Satcher has the benefit of a full offseason to prepare the Troopers in '10. Phil Barrios was named head coach at Eastwood just over a month before the start of the '11 season.
It took three days, but El Dorado smashed Socorro 73-0. The 'Tecs will host Bel Air on Friday.
The Cougars used a balanced attack to down Hanks 43-20. Franklin gets the winless Socorro Bulldogs on Friday.
The Trailblazers rebounded from their tough 28-25 loss to Franklin with a 35-7 demolition of Coronado. Jack Fields ran for 337 yards in the win. Americas is off until they travel to Hanks on September 30th.
The idle Rams look to go 2-0 in district when the travel to Eastwood on Friday.
The Mustangs showed they are for real with a win over Riverside last week. They host Andress Friday to open district play.
Del Valle blew past Jefferson 49-14. The Conquistadores open district play Friday at Ysleta.
Chapin was impressive in a 21-7 win over Andress. The Huskies will stay in the northeast and travel to Irvin to take on the Rockets on Friday.
The idle Scorpions moved up a spot as Andress fell out of the top ten. Horizon will travel to Alamogordo before opening up district play on the 30th
The Troopers make their first appearance in the top ten in almost a year with a 30-17 win over Bel Air. It might be short lived as the Troop will host Montwood on Friday.
The Tigers ran all over Irvin and held talented Rocket quarterback Damonte Parker in check in a 42-21 win. El Paso hosts Austin in the 'Battle of the Claw' on Friday.
