Only two more weeks of high school football on the borderland, as tonight's games are significant for playoff seeding and for district title spots.

But before we jump into this week's slate of games, we want to give a special shout out Montwood senior Kieran Johnson, a special needs student that suited out for the Rams and scored on a 50-yard touchdown in the Rams' 68-38 win over Socorro. What a tremendous story.

For week 10, we'll start at our YMCA Game of the Week where Franklin will host Pebble Hills in hopes to clinch their share of the 1-6A title with a win. However, Pebble Hills might be coming into this one looking for redemption after losing three of their last five games. Franklin's riding a six-game winning streak and a win tonight would likely lock them in for a top seed in the playoffs.

More in 1-6A, Americas and Coronado will square off for the last spot in the playoffs. Should Coronado lose, they are most likely out of playoff contention.

Although both Irvin and Burges locked in a playoff spot, both teams will battle out tonight for seeding. If Burges can hang on with a win, Austin-Burges next week will be for the second-place seed in 2-5A-2.

Things could shake up big time in Super 5A if Eastlake somehow pulls off an upset over Del Valle, or if El Dorado can beat Chapin. Neither of those are very likely, so tonight should just set up seedings for Super 5A.

Matchups like Canutillo-Horizon, Ysleta-Hanks and Riverside-Parkland will only serve as seeding placement games and could set up a one-game playoff elimination for next week's slate of games.
