The Bi-District round of the Texas high school playoffs took place this past with eleven El Paso-area schools taking part in action.  In 6A and 4A Division 1, unfortunately, all area teams were ousted.  With the 5A schools facing off against each other, four schools moved on to the Area round.  Here's how the games turned out.

On Thursday night, Amarillo High took control in the second half after trailing 21-14 at halftime, and defeated El Dorado 41-27.

Wolfforth Frenship dominated and beat Eastwood 45-21.

Franklin lost starting quarterback Baylor Romney early in the ballgame, but still fought back to tie the game at 28-28.  Amarillo Tascosa, however, drove to the Cougars' three-yard line and kicked the game-winning field goal to win 31-28.

Andress easily handled Bel Air, making their first playoff appearance since 1998, winning 42-14.

Canutillo was able to take care of Ysleta 63-28.

On Friday, in our Apex by Sunglass Hut Game of the Week, Del Valle and Chapin took part in a classic shootout.  The Conquistadores survived and defeated the Huskies 42-35.

Eastlake manhandled Bowie 41-7.

Lubbock Monterey beat Americas 48-21, assuring that no El Paso-area 6A team made it past the Bi-District round.

Lubbock Estacado trampled Mountain View 68-7.

Seminole shutout Fabens 35-0.

Levelland more than easily took care of Clint 54-18.

Sadly, since all the area teams will be playing out of town, the Bi-District round brought an end to our Football Friday Night season.  2014 was a fun, exciting season.  Even though we will not be covering any games live, I will still update the results of our 5A schools in the Area round.
