FIU Overpowers UTEP 52-12

Florida International was too much for the UTEP Miners as they beat them 52-12 on Saturday afternoon. Panthers quarterback Alex McGough threw for two TDs and 270 yards. The running game also worked for FIU as Alex Gardner, Anthony Jones and Anthon Samuel each ran for TDs.

Overall, FIU scored the first 35 points of the game and outgained UTEP 518 to 272.

For the Miners, Kavika Johnson replaced Ryan Metz in the 2nd quarter after Metz threw a pick six. Johnson passed for 107 yards including a 23-yard TD pass to Cole Freytag.

The Miners will have a bye week and return to face Florida Atlantic in the Sun Bowl on October 24.
