The hits just keep on coming for Southwest University Ballpark, which will trade its infield diamond for some extra grass when FC Juárez Bravos take on Monarcas de Morélia of the Primera, Friday, Oct. 9, at 7:30 p.m. MDT.

The exhibition will finish a whirlwind month for the ballpark, which saw the end of the El Paso Chihuahuas regular season, the first PCL playoff game in its history, and the hosting of the second Mexican Baseball Fiesta this weekend.

MountainStar Sports Group CEO Josh Hunt made the joint announcement with Bravos Vice President Álvaro Navarro at Southwest University Ballpark Friday morning. The soccer exhibition was characterized as the first of many for El Paso's still-shiny downtown jewel.

For FC Juárez, it will be a taste of a level of soccer they hope to be playing as soon as possible. A big 3-1 road win this weekend puts the Bravos firmly in playoff contention in the Ascenco. Divided into two seasons, the winner of the apertura (opening) season's playoff faces the clausura (closing) champion in a two-legged playoff to determine who will advance to the Primera the following season.
