FC Juarez Suffers First Defeat to Necaxa 3-1

The season of firsts continued on Saturday night for FC Juarez -- their first defeat. FC Juarez lost its first match ever to Club Necaxa by a score of 3-1. The team from the Borderland was playing catch up all night long. An early 7th minute gol by Necaxa put them behind the eight ball at home in front of another sold-out crowd in Benito Juarez Olympic Stadium.

Edgar Pacheco brought the home crowd to a frenzy when he equalized the score in the 38th minute of the match when he struck the ball past the visiting goalkeeper during a one on one opportunity.

The first half was evenly played. FC Juarez attempted to establish possession while Necaxa relied on counterattacking the local side.

It was in the 66^th minute of the second half when the visiting team took the lead once again after a lapse of the concentration from the Juarez defensive line.

Unfortunately, from that point on the Juarez side failed to react to pull off a tie at the very least. As a matter of fact, they appeared to have lost their way and style of play for approximately 10 minutes at around the 70^th minute mark. There appeared to be no sense of urgency.

The third gol was circumstantial as it was scored on FC Juarez in stoppage time off of a counterattack when all the players on the pitch for Juarez were on an all out attack in desperate attempts to tie the game.

After the game, FC Juarez head coach, Sergio Orduna said, “Our errors cost us today, they were infantile errors...all there is left is for us to move forward and continue to work.” Orduna also commented that the team failed in being proactive to react the early gol and to be aggressive to turn things around even after the game was tied at 1-1.

Next up for FC Juarez will be a trip to the Yucatan Peninsula as they will visit Atlante in the city of Cancun, Quintana Roo next Saturday.
